At Furzedown we believe that DT creates opportunities for all children to develop and learn new skills, knowledge and understanding in a practical, hands-on way. It is a subject that allows room for creativity and individuality whilst allowing children to develop independence. It allows children to engage in the way that design affects the world around us and promotes questions and understanding about those designs.  

Through our curriculum our children will: 

• Develop the creative, technical and practical expertise needed to perform everyday tasks confidently and to participate successfully in an increasingly technological world  
• Build and apply a repertoire of knowledge, understanding and skills in order to design and make high-quality prototypes and products for a wide range of users 
• Critique, evaluate and test their ideas and products and the work of others  
• Understand and apply the principles of nutrition and learn how to cook 

Across Key Stage 1 & 2 our curriculum will include:
