Books are absolutely crucial in getting us thinking about new worlds, other people’s worlds, other people’s realities – because if we don’t have that, we’re stuck in our little bubble.

Our Approach
Our English curriculum is designed to empower our pupils to express themselves with confidence, creativity and clarity, enabling them to thrive in an ever-changing world.
We believe that the ability to communicate effectively is essential for our children's success, both in their academic pursuits and in their future lives. By developing our children's writing, reading and oracy skills, we are equipping them to be active, responsible global citizens who can express their ideas and make a positive contribution.
The Power of Reading approach is central to our curriculum, as it allows us to foster a deep love of reading and writing. By immersing our children in high-quality, diverse literature, we ignite their imaginations and provide them with powerful models for their own creative expression. This, in turn, supports the development of their fluency in spelling, handwriting, and grammar as well as their oracy skills, enabling them to communicate effectively.
